Discovering Appalachia's Secret: Our Pico Pawpaw Cider
This fall (2025) we are trying something new. Locally sourced pawpaw cider in our VERY small batch, only available in The Taproom.
Here’s why:
We. Love. Pawpaws.
For the uninitiated, the pawpaw is North America's largest native fruit. Its creamy, custard-like flesh carries a surprising flavor often described as a mix of mango, banana, and citrus. It’s a forager’s gold, ripening for just a few short weeks and too delicate to be found on grocery store shelves. By partnering with local foragers, we’ve captured this elusive taste at its peak.
Our Pawpaw Cider begins with our signature base of crisp, heirloom apples. We then gently fold in the pulp of the pawpaws. The result is something truly unique: a cider that starts with a familiar Appalachian crispness and finishes with a wave of creamy, exotic flavor.
It’s a conversation in a glass between the orchard and the wild forest.
This project is more than just a new flavor—it’s a commitment. We are dedicated to sustaining the environment and economy of Southwest Virginia.
Sourcing pawpaws supports a network of local foragers and celebrates a native species that thrives without pesticides. It’s our way of honoring the land that inspires us, ensuring that these wild flavors continue to flourish for generations to come.
This small-batch cider is a love letter to our home. We invite you to taste a true piece of Appalachian heritage.
Watch social media for information on availability, or ask the bartender! This pico is planned for late October/early November of 2025 and will be available while supplies last.
