Cider Is the New Cozy
Why Winter Belongs to the Taproom
Winter in Southwest Virginia hits a little differently. The mountains get frosty, the wind has an attitude, and suddenly we’re all fighting the urge to hibernate until April. But here’s the good news: just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you have to feel cold.
In fact, inside the Tumbling Creek Cider Taproom, winter is downright cozy.
When you step through our door, the first thing you’ll notice is the warmth—both the literal kind and the “everyone-knows-your-name” kind. The lights are soft and golden. The music sets the vibe. You’ll see high-top tables for catching up with friends, low tables for settling in, and of course the couch—the sacred space of anyone who came to stay awhile. We’ve built a place where you can thaw out, kick back, and genuinely relax.
And then there’s the cider.
You can’t talk winter comfort without talking about our flagship favorites—like Moonshot, crisp and bright even in the darkest season. Or, if you’re the adventurous type, you can grab one of our small-batch specialties (but heads-up: they disappear fast).
But the crown jewel of cold-weather sipping?
Heath’s Gramma’s Mulled Cider.
This beautiful creation is straight from his Grammy’s recipe box—and trust us, Grammy knew what she was doing. We start with Tumbling Creek Cider, warm it to that perfect “hands wrapped around the mug” temperature, stir in the right blend of mulling spices, and finish it with dried apples and cinnamon. It’s sweet, spicy, comforting, and basically the liquid equivalent of a wool blanket. Grammy would be proud, and you will be very warm.
Keepin’ it Warm and Comfy in The Taproom
Of course, the Taproom isn’t just a place to drink cider—it’s a place to spend your winter nights. Every week, we’ve got something to get you out of the house and into the fun:
Pub Quiz for the brain scratchin’ types
Sip and Scribble with Mel for your artsy side
Tarot Nights for a little magic
Open Mic to sit in awe of SWVA talent
Live Music every month
And that’s just the beginning. We keep things lively even when the weather isn’t, so be sure to follow us on social or check our event calendar to stay in the loop.
So yes, it’s cold outside. The wind is rude. Your car takes forever to warm up. But inside the Tumbling Creek Cider Taproom? It’s warm, inviting, and full of good cider and good people.
Step in. Warm up. Stay awhile.
Because this winter, Cider is the new cozy.
Heath’s gramma stirred together the best ingredients to make a mulled cider that would warm you to your toes. He said we could bring this blend to The Taproom, so here we are!
